McCain Rally in O'Fallon

I had the great opportunity to attend the McCain “Road to the Convention Rally” in O’Fallon with 20,000 friends. I was excited to get the rally going and see great men like Governor Mitt Romney, Governor Mike Huckabee, and of course Senator John McCain. I was also excited to get another peek at Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, the first woman to be our party’s nominee for Vice President. Governor Palin is a rising star with an excellent conservative record and a history of governing in the best interest of the people. Senator John McCain showed his superb judgment in this historic move of picking Governor Palin as his running mate. I left the rally fired up for the McCain/Palin ticket and ready to elect these two great Americans on November 4th. A major reason for this is Governor Palin. Sarah Palin is a real woman running for the Vice Presidency. She is a wife and mother of five who doesn’t hide her femininity. Being a woman, wife, and mother has helped shaped who she is, being a great leader has given her this great opportunity. I stood in the crowd as a man held a young kid up to see the Governor speak and as he lowered the kid back to the ground, he leaned over and said “one day you could be up there”. Was that kid a young boy or a young girl? The truth is boy or girl/man or woman Governor Sarah Palin is the type of person we need fighting for us right along side Senator John McCain and I, a young Conservative Republican male, will be honored to give them my support this November.

The Sand in His Boots by Phil Kwan

Walking off of the plane,

The sun gets in his eyes,

He’s in a new country,

Left and said his goodbyes,

Given the orders,

He goes to his assigned place,

With all the thoughts of being here,

His heart begins to race,

But he knows his duty,

He knows what he’s doing is right,

He knows that freedom isn’t free,

And that is why he fights,

The days turn to months,

The months turn to years,

But the letters from home,

Turn away all his fears,

“Your brother says hi,”

“Your sister says your nephew is well,”

“Mom and dad say they love you,”

“I have something I want to tell,”

“You know that I love you,”

“I pray that you will be ok,”

“Please make it home safe,”

“Because our baby is on its way,”

He now sees there is more to fight for,

There’s even more purpose to this war,

Not only for the safety of his country,

But all of its people and more,

The days become longer,

The nights even more,

And the reports from the home say,

That his country is tore,

Some say it is justified,

Some say its not worth dying for,

Some say bring them home,

Some say send in more,

But what his home does not hear,

Is what the brave have to say,

He knows the battle is right,

He would say it every day,

And he’s not only fighting,

So others can be free,

But the protect the home front,

To protect you and me,

So tonight when you go home tonight,

And lie down to go to sleep,

Remember to pray for our soldiers,

And tell God their safety he must keep.

Global Warming Stupidity

One of the big problems I have with the “Global Warming” crowd is their refusal to use common sense and our free market economy to help their cause. Hybrid cars, tank less water heaters, and energy Independence through lowering our dependency on fossil fuels, three ideas that are suppose to help combat the “Global Warming Crisis”. Hybrid cars are more fuel-efficient thus, consumers save money at the pump. Tank less water heaters do not continuously heat water all day saving energy and money. A tank less water heater also insures the consumer does not get the cold shower when someone uses hot water elsewhere in the home. Energy independence through reduction in our use of fossil fuels has many positive effects. Reducing our use of fossil fuels reduces carbon, which is a major goal of the global warming crowd. Energy independence also makes this country more secure. It puts us in greater control and drives down the energy costs. Now the GW crowd does embrace some of this but mostly they talk and talk then talk some more. They also come up with kook ideas like using one sheet of toilet paper per visit to the john. If they would just come out and put their energies towards pushing these dually beneficial ideas in a non-kook way people would get behind them. Then even those who doubt man being at fault for global warming, like myself, would be much more receptive to their ideas. I will not be holding my breath on these nut bags wising up, but I will keep my eye out for idea and products that make my life easier or save me money and maybe some of them will be a little green.
